InterAksyon The online news portal of TV5 MANILA - As part of security precautions for the papal visit, the Quirino Avenue Station of the Light Rail Transit Line 1, just several meters away from the Apostolio Nunciature where Pope Francis will be lodged, will be closed the whole day of Jan. 16 (Friday) and on Jan. 18 (Sunday), LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera said. On three of the five days of the popes visit, there will be partial shutdowns of the Quirino Avenue station, which means the train will not stop there. Those usually getting on or off the LRT at that station are advised to instead embark or disembark either at the station before or after Quirino Avenue, that is, either Vito Cruz or Pedro Gil stations. The partial closures are for: Jan. 15 (Thursday) - 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 17 (Saturday) - 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 19 (Monday) - 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Pope will proceed directly to the Nunciature when he arrives on Jan. 15 at 5:45 p.m. On Jan. 17, his entourage will leave the Nunciature early morning for the flight to Leyte; and return to Taft Avenue on the evening of the same day. On Jan. 19, he leaves the Nunciature in the morning for his flight back to Rome. The Quirino Ave. station will be closed the entire day of Jan. 16 when he has three engagements in Metro Manila; and on Jan. 18, when he goes to the University of Sto. Tomas and then to Luneta.
