Interested in a Career in Conservation Horticulture? Groen Sebenza (Jobs Fund) Programme What is this programme about? The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), in partnership with 32 environment/biodiversity organisations has embarked on a major skills development and job creation pilot programme, “Groen Sebenza”, a Jobs Fund Partnership Project. Groen Sebenza is aimed at developing priority skills in the biodiversity sector to create sustainable job opportunities for 800 unemployed graduates. Post available: 1. Division: Gardens and Tourism Available Post Number of posts Garden/Centre and Contact person Horticulturist Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden 1 Kirstenbosch (021-799799 8899) General Requirements Applications from rural unemployed youth from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are invited for the above positions. Applicants need to have the following: o National Diploma in Horticulture o SA citizenship. o A demonstrated and clearly articulated commitment to the environment. o A commitment to career development in the environmental sector. o Good leadership potential. Personal requirements o Indigenous Plant Knowledge o Excellent communications skills o Computer literate o Able to adapt to change and be flexible in daily work plan o Reasonably Fit o Able to work in a team and independently Job Details o Plant promotion and information at events, shows, sales and within a production/wholesale nursery o Plant Propagation and Maintenance o Record keeping o Plant research and writing o Horticultural skills training o Office admin and support o Customer service and sales How to apply Applicants are required to fill in an application form (herewith attached). Applicants are also required to provide recently certified copies of the following documents: A certified copy of your ID Degree/diploma.
