[Interested to know more about this work?] Join Dr Courtney Pedersen, Lecturer in Art History QUT, 1.30pm Sat 19 July as she examines the role of women within the domestic labour discourse / Mika Rottenberg’s video installations feature predominantly female characters of striking physical presence who undertake seemingly mundane tasks – within unusual environments – resulting in unexpected outcomes / ‘Marys cherries’ was inspired by the story of a woman with a rare blood type who decided to make a career out of selling her blood / The characters in this work harvest their own long, red fingernails to create a lustrous food product / Currently on display in Harvest.
