Interesting - I have been a freelance composer for 21 years. At the moment I am working on three commisions, wich will keep my composer shop busy for the next three months at least. But the fact that I could see the end of the commisions, made me suddenly think will I ever be asked to write anything again?. Then today in my mail box came a new commision, and I felt I was back in the game! But being an artist in a very competetive and zero security field, for me, means that even after all these years, I never know if its suddenly over and I have written my last commissional work. Thank God I am also writing, recording and performing my own music - so I am not as such dependent solely on commisions for music work. But the fundamental insecurity is right below the surface.... We create the art inspite of the circumstances, not because of them.
