Interesting! - On August 1st, 1981; at 12:01 Am EST; those who called their cable provider in advance were treated to the birth of a radical new direction in television entertainment programming. A 24 hour network that lived, breathed, and broadcasted material produced by the artist, at no cost to the network. The artist had a platform for their vision. The audience was able to crawl up in side the head of you favorite artist—a pantheon of sight and sound; MTV was born. The 1st video ever to air on MTV was of The Buggles 1979 single, Video Killed the Radio Star.
