Interesting Facts from 2013 NFL Season: 11 different teams scored 400 points or more during the regular season. Nine different teams scored 400 points or more from 1990-1994 combined. No quarterback since 1969 had 7 TD passes in a single game. Then two QBs did it this year. (Peyton Manning & Nick Foles) The Eagles lost their first four home games of the season and still managed to win a division. How many NFL teams have won a division title after losing their first four home games? That would be zero. Richard Sherman had more interceptions (eight) than the entire Houston Texans had all season (seven). The Cleveland Browns had just four rushing TDs all season. In a not so parallel universe, Adrian Peterson had five rushing TDs in September. Although The Denver Broncos were crushed in the Super Bowl, they still had many memorable strange but true moments. On their way to scoring an NFL record 606 point the Broncos still did all this. -They had six games where their offense gained 500 yards or more. The other 15 teams in the AFC combined had four games. -In their first game of the season Peyton Manning had seven TDs. The Jacksonville Jaguars had six TDs in their first eight games. -They scored 50 points or more in three different games. How many games have the Broncos scored at least 50 in their previous 53 seasons? That would be one and it was back in 1963. -Peyton Manning set an NFL records for passing TDs (55) and yards (5477) and didnt lead the league in QB rating. That went to Nick Foles. -Peyton Manning did not throw an interception in September. His brother Eli threw nine of them. -Peyton Manning led the league in TDs while his brother Eli led in interceptions. -The Broncos were shut out in four quarters in their first eight games. The Giants were shut out five quarters in a row in weeks 3 and 4. Playoffs The Indianapolis Colts had the fewest turnovers this season. So naturally, they committed four turnovers in back to back playoff games. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints were shut out threw the first three quarters of the division round game against the Seahawks. Guess how many times the Saints forgot to score in the first three quarters in 111 games and 11 playoff games started by Drew Brees. That would be none. The Chiefs-Colts game in the first round sure was a crazy game. Some of the strange but truisms include: -The Colts committed four turnovers in this game and won. In a completely unrelated development The Colts prior to this game had lost their previous 13 games where they committed four or more turnovers. Their last victory when committing that many turnovers was on October 29, 2000. -The Chiefs hadnt allowed 45 points in any of their last 46 games, but that is exactly what they did in this game. -The Colt trailed 38-10 at one point and won. The last time a playoff team trailed by that large of a margin and won was when the Buffalo Bills trailed by 32 points against the Houston Oilers on January 3, 1993. The Super Bowl was the strangest but truest of all. The Broncos scored at least 20 points in every game during the regular season. So was there any doubt they would be held to eight points in this game? The Seahawks had fewer 1st downs (17) than the Broncos (18). The Seahawks scored more points in this game (43) than they allowed the entire postseason (40). The Broncos were shut out in the first half of this game. Was there any other game this season or postseason where the Broncos didnt score in the first half? Of course not.
