Interesting Movie Fact of the Day: The movie Stand By Me was based on a short story by Stephen King called The Body, which was based on true events. According to trivia, King could pull the plug on any adaptation of his at any time. He approved Rob Reiners choice to direct the film and casting decisions that Reiner & the casting directors made before shooting. Production on the film occurred during the summer of 1985 and post-production took less than a year to complete. Before submitting the final cut to the studio that would help subsequently him with distribution (Sony/Columbia), he showed the first cut to Stephen King at a private screening. After the credits started rolling, King stepped outside and came back about five minutes later. He had just finished crying and pondering his thoughts. Rob Reiner asked if he was okay.
