Interesting and unexpected night tonight. My buddy Drew gave me a ticket to see professional wrestler MICK FOLEY do a stand-up comedy routine at the Addison Improv. It was amazing. I got to meet him, and he gave me few autographs and took a picture with me. He was hilarious, mostly telling stories about his life in the wrestling business. He mentioned that The Von Erichs were in the crowd. I was shocked! I found out that Kerry Von Erichs, God rest his soul, ex-wife and daughter were there. My first true super hero was Kerry Von Erich. My dad took me to see WCCW wrestling at the Sportatorium in Dallas back in 1983. I didnt know who any of the guys were, but one guy really captured my attention. Kerry Von Erich. I was a chubby kid, and was really awkward in my youth. I was kind of that in between kid who was popular more with the misfits. We all know those kids. lol. He was like a real life super hero. He was musclebound and athletic, and would make the audience scream for him just walking to the ring. Very charismatic. I attached a picture of me wearing a Kerry Von Erich t-shirt in my 4th grade school picture. Skip ahead many years, I was a teenager, and my new best friend at the time (and still best friend) Walter and I were in Addison, TX near what used to be Prestonwood mall at a movie theatre waiting to see a movie. We were outside, and the only ones there. A white corvette comes screeching up into the parking lot and pulls up near us. It was Kerry Von Erich dropping off his two little girls LaceyVonErich and Hollie. We were stunned! Long story short, I never got to meet him. He tragically passed away not long after this. Tonight, I got to meet his daughter and ex-wife. I attached a picture. In some way to me, it was like I got to meet my childhood hero in spirit. This may sound weird, but it was really special to me. Kind of like some sort of closure for a die hard wrestling fan. Interesting and unexpected night to say the least. -Jayden
