Interesting argument rumbling on concerning the interior painting of Chartres Cathedral. What we see now in cathedrals and castles does not match what was experienced in medieval times. We are used to clean stonework, while in the medieval everything was painted. Is returning some of the interior to experience the medieval such a huge crime as Martin Filler suggests? theguardian/artanddesign/2014/dec/19/us-architect-sparks-row-chartres-cathedral-restoration-paul-calvel
