Interesting article. So much has changed throughout History on this topic. From my perspective and as someone who now consults, teaches and lives as a Numerologists I would now take a different approach. I did take my husbands name at marriage as it was the norm in my world. But at divorce it bought great hostility from a man who wanted it no other way. I recall him telling me it was no longer mine and I must surrender it. Torn at the school gates to shed my failed marriage, it was no so easy to disconnect from the natural connection to my children. Throughout my research and understanding of Numerology, the name given at birth is NO MISTAKE. It carries the essence of who we are, our skills, personality and passions. The surname is the family name and carries our spiritual essence. Changing this name can influence or imbalance us. Looking back over my life, I see things greatly changed for me after marriage and yet for my husband they remained almost the same. Often women say it was because if becoming a wife but according to the numbers it was because if the name change. It takes about 7 years for the new name to set in - so understanding the 7 year hitch makes so much sense. Now my children are older, I find myself asking Should I drop the name Rose? 3 Hudson 9. The 3 energy is scattered and very much about the I and while the 9 energy appears scattered it is because it holds humanity as a whole and those with an I out-look often feel they are being compromised. Changing the surname can add what is missing, intensify what is already there but it can never truly take away who you really are. So I suggest time to take a deeper look at you, validate from within and live at your essence and calling. My full birth name feels truer to me than my married name and with a passion of 1, a personality of 11/2 and traits of a 3 perhaps 2015 (universal 8 year - great vision and recognition) I may well change my name back so that I can release this LOST feeling I have been wading through. How has your life altered since changing your surname? If you are 2 men getting married, whose name did you take? If you have/had a double barrelled name, what did you do when you got married? Double it again or drop them all?
