Interesting article about Walt Disney. When he realized that only 2% of the Disneyland tourists were from the East Coast, he set out to find another park area. He thought about Niagara Falls, New York City, D.C. and other areas, but the weather was a factor plus major roads for access and exit. He then contemplated Tampa, Ocala, Daytona Beach and other points down south, but was concerned about being close to water because of hurricanes. When he was about to give up, he boarded his Gulfstream to head home, and when he got over Orlando he looked out the window to the land below and said, This is it. Privacy was a big concern so as to avoid speculation he didnt refuel here, but went to New Orleans. The next day he left for California, and when exiting the plane learned that JFK had been assassinated. Unusual for a sad and happy event to happen on the same day, November 22, 1963, fifty years ago.
