Interesting collection of issues: What would the US have done, if a prominent Chinese entertainment company had issued a film about their secret service assassinating Obama? (or have to ask because the responders/response would be different---assassinating a Republican president while in office?). Can you hear our media? Would we have considered a consequential cyber attack on the corporation a proportional response? Art is a powerful message medium, is there a line to go over? I read somewhere that the only precedent is a film about Hitler, and the film makers used a false name (easy enough to figure out). Would this film have generated a different response from North Korea if the filmmakers had used a mythical state with a easily identifiable leader? This would be excellent fodder for an ethics class discussion! (The issues of state sanctioned cybercrime and national security are a whole nother barrel of monkeys!)
