Interesting convo with friend this morn. Goes to show that the grass is not always greener over there. Her school days were marred (yes marred) by growing in a stable home, driven to and picked up from school, balanced breakfast daily, piano lessons after school, driven by parents because they owned a car in the 70s while others students had to walk to and fro school, envied by student at the gate who saw her enter/exit her parents car, stood by on her veranda reading Shakespeare and playing Chopin, while the other student walked by sweaty and tired. She was jealous and sometimes livid. Unlike her we had the glory and drew her envy because we had to walk 3 to 5 miles (of course without a choice) when hungry buss wi shut, and we had to raid Me Brown mango tree, and Ms White cherry tree to keep from starving, instead of piano lessons we were in the enviable position to fight off big boys and threatening men trying to hog a football game on the beach or in the clearing , and using the oceans and rivers as of bathtubs, and find Mr Gordons coconut tree to fight off hunger. Den she come tell me that she was jellus cuz we had a wholesome growing up
