Interesting discussion. Thinking about protecting child/women abusers, peadophiles etc as has happened in high profile ways recently. From my privileged position of not having had to face the situation yet, I always think would I protect anyone who is abusing children/women/people? I could understand not wanting to initiate a process of out of fear etc, to take someone to task. But if asked, and as part of an investigation - I am really really hoping that I would want true accountability and justice if an abuser was say, my family or someone I love and care for. Surely I would want accountability, as hard and cruel as it may be, as the only way that person would find real peace? Or is that just one of those you dont know unless youve been there things?
