Interesting evening I spent yesterday. My cousin, Curtis, posted a photo of my father when he was a young man in Jamaica that lead to the discovery of my second cousin, Tenisha R and her family line, our family line. Our grandmothers are sisters and their respective descendant lines are fodder for the stories that make interesting books. My Jamaican clan just grew. It seems as though Kerry Young, author of the novels Pao and Gloria is my second cousin also, as are 23 others who I never knew about! And then there are the next generation! Caribbean histories and biographies are rich. Migration for work or to better themselves spread us all over. (That coupled with the real phenomenon of children out of wedlock, and sometimes whole separate families sired by one father—and that was not a lower class thing by all indications—leaves us with these mysterious pasts.) We are all connected here in the Caribbean and may not know. The internet and Ancestry to the rescue. Now for my Kittician ancestor posse. That is a mystery.
