Interesting fact I found out yesterday when I had to go to the ER: When I took the prescription to the pharmacy, the lady there said she was giving me the least expensive alternatives for the meds prescribed by the doctor. I said I dont care about that, just give me the exact meds the doc ordered for me to take. She said you dont understand, in Chile it is ILLEGAL for doctors to prescribe a specific brand of meds. When they write a prescription they can only use the generic name for the compound. For example, he cant write Aleve, he has to write naproxen and then I get to choose which is the one I want to buy. I find it interesting how the authorities here tackled the problem of docs giving you a brand of meds instead of letting you choose which one you want to buy. What would happen in America if this procedure were passed as law of the land? Big bad pharma would blow a fuse!!!!
