Interesting fact: Marmoset dizygotic/fraternal twins exchange - TopicsExpress

Interesting fact: Marmoset dizygotic/fraternal twins exchange blood stem cells called hematopoietic stem cells in utero. This exchange leads to chimerism, which is a single organism composed of genetically distinct cells. Normally chimerism can cause medical problems but not in marmosets. Marmoset twins are full siblings, but if you draw a blood sample from one twin between 10% - 50 % of the cells will carry the siblings DNA.
