Interesting how my piece on double standards has provoked such a response. The point is that Israel is entitled to defend its own territory against attack. I made that point in the article. However, any response must be proportionate. Targeting civilians in such a way is not proportionate. I have also been attacked for siding with Palestinians due to some kind of religious or ideological attachment. This is quite ridiculous. The article focuses on accountability. To be clear it is my view that any attack from either side of the conflict must be brought to justice. We should not be afraid of confronting Israel on their human rights record nor should we be afraid of confronting the Palestinian Authority. There must be a ceasefire - respected by all parties. There must then be a process of accountability and reconciliation. Its a fairly simple point and is not made in furtherance of any political objective.
