Interesting little tidbit from this mornings ride to the bus stop. Helen was reviewing her study notes for AP world history. In the notes about communism, socialism, and liberalism, yep, that was the three topics, liberalism was defined as promoting democracy and freedom. I asked her if everybody therefore supported liberalism and she said sure. I explained that the word was not a form of government and had been misused. Then the explanation of the industrial revolution was that it created pollution and disease and was a bad thing. No good came from it. Of course I corrected this too, and her response was I know daddy but thats the answer thats on the test. No wonder our kids are so lost in their approach to what shaped America. And universities are 10 times worse. What we get for our education dollars is despicable!
