Interesting new post from Mark Waldman (neuroscience expert): INCREASE HAPPINESS: KEEP A KINDNESS JOURNAL! I highly recommend that you keep a kindness journal, which has been shown to enhance a person’s sense of happiness. All you have to do is keep a list every any act of kindness that you show to yourself or someone else, no matter how big or small (being helpful, giving a compliment, sharing, smiling, recycling, taking yourself on a “pleasure” walk, etc.) Barbara Fredrickson, a founder of Positive Psychology, writes: “Tune into kindness--your own, and that of others. Seek out and savor goodness, beauty, and excellence. Treasure these moments, and you will unlock recurrent waves of gratitude, awe, inspiration, and more. Become like a plant and turn toward the light, in all its spiritual, earthly, and human forms. Feed on it. The more you train your eye, mind, and heart to the positivity in your life, the more of it youll find….And as you reach this noble goal of flourishing, you help create a world that is truly worth leaving to our children.” Source: Happy people become happier through kindness: a counting kindnesses intervention.
