Interesting read from a former FSU player that played at Lakeside HS. I still think the players should have shook hands, but he clearly knows more than I do about being on the field after a game at that level. By: Ryan Sprague Bethany A better question might be why are they only talking about FSU. I mentioned the Bama game and when it ended their QB was on camera literally sprinting to the locker room when the game ended and the majority of the team followed him. It happens in most all NCAAF games where a trophy presentation is involved. This isnt about sportsmanship or class, its about traditions in specific sports. In NCAA baseball there is no handshake line, ever. Neither is their one in MLB. In NCAAB the teams do handshake. In the NHL they only do handshakes at the culmination of playoff series, not after individual games. Generally speaking, in football, both NFL and NCAA, some players meet in the middle and some go to the locker room. Its just the culture of the sport. I dont think I ever shook a hand when I played. I always went to the middle but normally guys are just talking to old team mates from high school and I didnt know anyone. Just watch the bowl games end today. Youll see the head coaches meet and then run off the field. Occasionally they find a player they recruited or the opposing QB to talk to, but they generally dont talk to or hand shake players or coaches. Youll see the same with players. If you watch closely the conversations are not just good game like you do in little league, youll see friends talking to each other. Its especially true in Bowl games due to the post game ceremonies.
