I would like to add that as Dr. Qadhi explains, the age at which a girl gets married is irrelevant because it is dependant on time and cultural factors - what is more important , however, are the criteria determined by Islam which are not related to age but rather to biological and mental maturity as well as consent. Without these a marriage is not considered valid. These requirements are timeless and applicable in any society or culture consequently; the age of marriage will depend only on meeting them which will differ for each individual. This shows once more how the message of the Quran, although it was revealed more than 1400 years ago, is for all time till the end of time and to all people (humanity).
