Interesting thing today when I went to vote.. not too many people - TopicsExpress

Interesting thing today when I went to vote.. not too many people were there when I arrived.. in fact I was the only voter, and there were four poll workers. when I walked to the table I said my name, and a very surly lady said, "I have to see your picture ID" (I have a voter registration card, has no photo)...so I preceded to retrieve it from my wallet which was in my purse... she glared at me.. I put it on the table... she then asked what is your name and address.. she has the info on the computer in front of her, and my license.. I replied.. it is on my license.. of course she told me I had to say it.... by now I was irritated... because I was trying to tell her when I first arrived in front of her, and she cut me off w/the remark that she had to see id. Then she asked if I was a republican or democrat.. and of course I was not going to answer.. but I was informed I had to - so I said Independent... again I was told I had to "declare", since it was a primary, and they had to know which ballot to give me.. the one for delegate.(Rep). or the one for the Lt. Gov and Att Gen. for the state.(Dem) I,,, so my question... how come for a dinky state primary I have to go thru all this hoopla..and for a Pres. election seems anyone w/ or w/o id can vote... boggles my mind.
