Interesting thoughts bubbling up in my brain tonight. At the funeral today the pastor shared a verse from the psalms. He read the whole thing, including the word Selah at the end. Usually we skip the Selah when reading the psalms aloud, so it struck me as odd. Its really sort of a pause or break, a musical mark referring to an interlude, (helpful to the music leader of the psalms, but not something we really stop to think about these days.) But the pastor at the funeral actually said the word, as if it was part of the text. Then, tonight at church my own pastor shared something that had been on his heart. . .a particular word. Want to guess what it was? Selah. He talked about deliberately taking a rest, a breather. A pause. An interlude. He didnt say, Cease your work but rather, Catch a moment with God in the very middle of it all. Take Selah moments as you go about your day. I plan to have more Selah moments in the middle of my busy work-week. How about you? Psalm 32:7: You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.
