Interesting view presented by Rev. Al Sharpton. Sourced from the article in which he states, We need mutual appreciation. And until we find some, you can bet that we will be speaking through the power of our voices, our actions -- and our dollars. I agree with the majority of his statement; but yet, he fails to emphasize the importance of education and obtaining knowledge. One can say that government has a history of being unfair to minorities, yet many businesses utilize them in seeking contracts, loans, etc. Where voices and actions are seen and heard after-the-fact, they should be proactive in empowering, developing, obtaining, generating, and preventing. To do so, it takes awareness, understanding, knowledge, and knowing how to effectively develop and implement a strategy/plan (to start).
