Interesting viewpoint from an outsider, and one that I have tried - TopicsExpress

Interesting viewpoint from an outsider, and one that I have tried to embrace my entire life. Of course, you might consider me biased since I did vote for President Obama twice. And I would do it again. I did not vote for his predecessor, President Bush, either time, and I would do that again. However, even though I disagreed with President Bush more than not, he was our president and I supported him. In fact, I would have taken a bullet for him, because he was our president. The leader of our country. When the Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at President Bush late in his second term, if I was there, I would have stabbed the show thrower in his neck with a pen and watched him bleed. Because George Bush was our president and you do not assault our president. And that is with my complete understanding and respect of the shoe throwers frustration, fear and anger over the all those killed in Iraq. Valid point, exceptionally bad action. Now, the assaults on our president are coming more internally than ever. It does sadden me because I believe President Obama wants to be a great statesman, to move our country forward socially as we move deeper into this millennium. What gives me hope is that I believe history will be on his side. And I believe in a few years those who have perpetuated fear to meet their own narrow political views or profit margins will look like George Wallace did in 1963 physically standing in the way of segregation. And those fear mongers will most likely deny their part, because lets face it, no one today wants to shoulder up with George Wallace circa 1963. And one final disclaimer, Wallace was a Democrat, so no party is immune to the exceptionally bad decisions made based on fear. Happy Labor Day.
