Intermediate student gang-raped. KURNOOL: An intermediate student was gang-raped by unidentified assailants, who later hit her head with a boulder late on Wednesday night. The critically injured girl, however, survived the attack at Devaragattu village of Alurumandal. According to reports reaching here, the girl was part of the group of five students, who came from Bellary in Karnataka to offer prayers at the Lord Mala Malleswara Swamy temple at Devaragattu. The group comprised two girls and three boys. After the incident, the other members of the group left the village in panic. The gang-rape angered the villagers as the girl was returning after the darshan of the presiding deity. The dazed victim could not speak to the police. The police are looking for the other members of the group to elicit more details about the incident. The girl was waylaid and gang-raped by unidentified persons. She was lying under a bridge with head injuries. Forest officials, who noticed the girl, informed the police. The victim was shifted to the Aluru government hospital. Aluru police inspector Venkatramaiah is investigating the case.TOI
