Trainee Accountant Internship Programme (all inclusive stipend – R120 000.00 per annum) (2 Year Fixed contract) The Cacadu District Municipality has secured funding from National Treasury (Finance Management Grant) to embark on a project that is aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of Budget and Accounting reforms within the District Municipality and selected Local Municipalities in the District. The Programme will facilitate on the job technical skills development of Interns. As part of the project, Interns will undergo intensive training in Municipal Accounting and Financial Management. The Accounting and Financial areas include inter alia. Revenue Collection and Debtors administration Payment of creditors Payroll Administration Cash Flow and Investment Management Risk Management and Short Term Insurance Bank Reconciliations Budgeting and in year reporting Preparation of Financial Statements Supply Chain Management This position will suit candidates with the following profile Belong to previously disadvantaged group or background; An appropriate Accounting degree e.g B. Com, with Accounting 3 as a major subject is essential; Two years relevant experience will be a recommendation; Must be computer literate with extensive knowledge of MS Office, Software Packages (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Ability to speak at least two languages spoken within the Council’s area of jurisdiction; Must be willing to undergo an assessment test specifically of Basic to Advance Excel programmes; Preference will be given to those applicants coming from CDM area of jurisdiction. Unemployed Graduates are required for the following positions 1. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS: ND Human Resources/Public Management preferably Degree/B-Tech in Human Resources or Public Management with Performance Management III Belong to previously disadvantaged group; Must be computer literate with extensive knowledge of MS Office, Software packages (MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel); Ability to speak at least two languages spoken within the Council’s area of jurisdiction; Preference will be given to candidates residing within the Cacadu District area of jurisdiction will be considered. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance Management System Institutional Performance Integration of the Organisational Performance Management 2. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS: ND Logistics/Purchasing preferably Degree/B-Tech in Logistics/Purchasing Belong to previously disadvantaged group; Must be computer literate with extensive knowledge of MS Office, Software packages (MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel); Ability to speak at least two languages spoken within the Council’s area of jurisdiction; Preference will be given to candidates residing within the Cacadu District area of jurisdiction will be considered. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in performing purchasing functions and ensure that financial regulations are adhered to Assist in opening of bids in accordance with the Supply Chain Management Policy Assist with the registration of suppliers on the database Take Minutes during bid/quote meetings Request quotes from services providers Attending briefing session/site meeting Prepare requisition and generate order on the system Assist applicants in completing database form Assist in preparing monthly reports HOW TO APPLY CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 08 NOVEMBER 2013 Application forms for vacancies are obtainable from the Department of Corporate Services at the Cacadu District Municipality.
