Internal #Hemorrhoids Pathological hemorrhoids (piles) are inflamed or swollen vascular strictures in your anal canal or rectal area. Vascular strictures are blood vessels, serving the rectum and anal canal. There are two types of hemorrhoids: internal and external hemorrhoids. They are differentiated by the region in which they occur. Internal hemorrhoids occur above the dentate (pectinate) line. External hemorrhoids occur below the dentate line. Internal Hemorrhoids Internal hemroids are small, swollen bulges inside the anal canal. They are generally painless, except in the grade 3 and 4 developmental stages. Internal hemorrhoid is also painful, when thrombosed or necrotic. Necrosis is the premature death of cells in blood vessels. Stages of Development of Internal Hemorrhoids Internal piles have 4stages of development. The developmental stages are classified according to their degree of prolapse. A tissue or organ is said to be prolapsed, if it has dislodged from its normal anatomical position. Grade 1 There is no prolapse at this stage. The blood vessels lining the walls of the anal canal are inflamed. Bleeding is the only visible symptom at this stage. Grade 2 The hemroids may prolapse when you stoop or take a dump. The feces passing through the anal canal pushes the hemroids out. After the passage of stool, the hemroids spontaneously retract. Grade 3 The hemroids are prolapsed and bulge out of the anus. At this stage, they can be manually re-inserted into the anus. Grade 4 The #hemroids are permanently prolapsed. They cannot be manually pushed back into the anus. If you push them back, they will immediately prolapse. Symptoms of Internal Hemorrhoid Internal piles bleed. You will notice streaks of bright red blood on your stool, toilet bowl and tissue paper. This condition is known as hematochezia. If the hemroid is in an advanced developmental stage, you might also find mucous on your stool and toilet paper. The colour of blood is essential. If the blood is darkish, you might be dealing with a more serious problem like bowel disease or colon cancer. In this case, you need to contact your doctor immediately. At the grade 3 and 4 developmental stage, internal hemroids, itch and irritate. You might also suffer from fecal incontinence. Fecal incontinence (faecal incontinence or bowel incontinence or anal incontinence) is the loss of control over defecation. This leads to involuntary passing of stool i.e. flatus, mucus, solid or liquid feces. Causes of Internal Hemorrhoids Internal piles are caused by high pressures on the bowels. Several factors can account for sharp alterations in intra-abdominal pressure. Diarrhea and constipation bring about tremendous changes in bowel pressure and consequently leads to piles. Diarrhea is a state of frequent and watery stool. Constipation is a state of dry, small and hard stool. During constipation, you will experience long intervals between dumps. The hormonal changes during pregnancy and the weight of the fetus on the lower abdomen often results in piles. The pushing during childbirth further exerts pressure on the blood vessels in the pelvic region and may result in piles. Lack of physical exercise and overweight are frequently cited causes of piles. The blood vessels of overweight people are constricted by fatty cells, which hamper blood circulation. In addition, slimy belly fat weighs down on the bowels, causing high pressure. Low fiber diets can result in piles. Fiber improves metabolism by absorbing and retaining water. If you consume a low fiber diet, little amounts of fluid will be absorbed. This might lead to constipation. Pelvic floor dysfunction might lead to piles. You might be genetically predisposed to piles. Piles are also more frequent in people older than 45. The Cure for Hemorrhoids #Hemorrhoid can be cured with topical ointments or suppositories. If the development of hemroids is too advanced, surgery might be the only viable treatment option.
