How Internal Links and Nofollow Links Work: The Benefits Of course, you have to understand what these two types of links mean separately before understanding what they mean together. If you’re not up to date on your linking terminology, don’t sweat it. Consider the definitions below: Nofollow Links. Nofollow links means that the Google Bots will not crawl that link and pass PageRank to the website that the link points toward. You can use a “rel=’nofollow’ tag on the link to make this happen. Benefits: Many websites put the nofollow tag on any links that show up in the comments section of an article. If others are trying to leave a comment just to get the PageRank juice that comes from link building on other websites, it won’t be worth it on a site that uses nofollow, so it helps to prevent spam.
