International Bhikkhuni Day We are soon approaching the 4th International Bhikkhuni Day (IBD) celebration. When Bhikkhunis are present, teaching and training aspirants then the Buddha’s vision of Sangha is fulfilled. The premise of IBD is to spread the word about Bhikkhunis as far and as wide as possible. Each community engaging in some event celebrating IBD are welcome to add their event to the interactive map on the Alliance for Bhikkhuni website. Please contact [email protected] to share information about your event. In this way the joy is shared and celebrated by followers from around the world. As part of this year’s IBD celebrations the producers have generously offered free access to “The Buddha’s Forgotten Nuns” an excellent documentary that examines the conflict between Buddhism as a religious movement based on equality, its transmission from one male-dominated culture to another and the perseverance and inspiration of Bhikkhunis today. This special free viewing can be seen at https://vimeo/70402429/ with the password of IBD2014 from September 6th - 13th. Thank you Wiriya Sati, director, for your double gift - first by making this important documentary and then by sharing it with us at this time!
