International Catholic Deaf Association United States Section, Inc. Midwest Region E-Newsletter April 2014 Board of Directors President Margaret Calteux Milwaukee, WI Secretary Patricia Slisz Chicago, IL Treasurer Toby Petrie Cincinnati, OH Past President Jean Cox Cleveland, OH Facebook ICDA-US ICDA-US Website Hi Members of ICDA-US Midwest Region, We owe a lot of thanks to the Chapter# 20 St. Nicholas Catholic Deaf for their creative work because this work is like out of the blue and committee members of this conference work together very well. This work is also the miracle in our ICDA-US Midwest community because chapter 20 is an inactive chapter. This chapter is a wonderful role model to those inactive chapters and these chapters can host ICDA-US Midwest Region conferences in future. Even though the Chapter 20 is an inactive chapter, they put their trust in God in order to make 39th Biennial ICDA-US MWR a successful conference one. For those inactive chapters who feel Gods calling to host ICDA-US Midwest regional conferences, they will be blessed with Gods graces just like the chapter 20 received Gods blessings. The committee members of 39th Biennial ICDA-US Midwest Regional Conference 2014 are Toby Petrie (Chairperson), Richard Chrisman, Carl Acevedo, Jerry Studer, Mary Studer, Jenny Shircliff, Patrick Sweeney, Eileen Chamber, Steve Keller, Sue Shircliff, Joe Shircliff, Janis Clifford, Mary Kammer, Shirley Chrisman, and MaryAnn Barth. Some of these members are from the other chapter, and the name of this chapter is Mother of God Deaf Community, Covington, KY, Chapter 130. The team work between chapter 20 and chapter 130 was very beautiful. If our neighbor need some help, we help them immediately without hesitation. This helpful nature will make God happy. Similarly, God is happy to those members from both chapters 20 and 130 who work together and make this conference a successful one. It does not take place only this time, but it will happen again in ICDA-US National Conference 2015 at Cleveland. Three chapters #24 (Toledo), #4 (Detroit), and #18 (Cleveland) are working together to keep the 8th Biennial ICDA-US National Conference a happens. Back to the ICDA-US Midwest community, ICDA-US Midwest Region is the sole active region in USA for almost 50 years since 1966. The next 40th Biennial ICDA-US Midwest conference will be in Chicago Chapter 10, and we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of ICDA-US Midwest Region Conference there in 2016. Please you all come back. We will have 41st Biennial ICDA-US Midwest Conference at Chapter 7, Milwaukee in 2018. The bid for 42nd Biennial ICDA-US Midwest Conference 2020 is still open, and if you wish to host this 2020 conference, please contact President of ICDA-US Midwest region. Thank you. Schnurr led the Vigil Mass in chapel of St. Rita School for the Deaf. Fr. Wysong interpreted sayings of the archbishop. The renovated chapel is very beautiful and elegant.
