International Conference Center - Under Construction The International Conference Center, Umuahia, under construction, with a capacity of 9,000 seats, is a worldclass and very outstanding and by our investigations is going to be the most magnificient in Africa after completion. His excellency, Governor Theodore Ahamefula Orji Ochendo, who is the peoples Governor, is committed to seeing that this project is commissioned by December, 2013. This is because of the forthcoming Nigerian Army Finance Corps 9th bienniel conference which would be holding in Umuahia. The International Conference Center would help boost the tourism sector of the state as a lot of programmes and events would be holding there. It will also promote business transactions as people who come for these various conferences will definitely need goods and other services. It will create employments for the teeming youths of Abia State as people must be employed to work there. His Excellency, Governor Theodore A. Orji, a passionate and an emotional leader of the Abia State people must be encouraged by all Abians, both at home and in diaspora, so that he could be motivated, as we all have a role to play in governance. A lot of international conferences that are being held in Abuja and other big cities in Africa would begin to hold in Umuahia and give our people the opportunity to interact with different kinds of people and enhancing the private sector of the economy. Our candid advice as a group in support of good governance and sustenable democracy to our beloved Abia people who are in the tourism industry is to take advantage of this great opportunity and establish hotels, recreational centers, eatries, etc. This is because participants who will be coming for various conferences must need a place to stay, a place to eat and places to relax. In most cases, such participants might not want to lodge in distant places from the venue of their programmes. An International Conference center of this magnitude is not found anywhere in Africa, and as such, our amiable Governor must be encouraged so that he can do more and better, for it takes a man with exposure and awareness to think of such a life-changing project. Abia State people should encourage politics of ethics and principle instead of politics of hatred, blacmails, lies, wickedness and sentiments. The administration of His Excellency, Governor Theodore A. Orji, is such a wonderful one that Abia State had never had before, a governor that encourages equity and justice, fair-play and humility. On this note, we want to, as a group that sees His excellency as a man that has character worth emulating, encourage Abia State people to support, not to distract, to scrutinise before we criticise, to play our own role diligently in the policy and decision-making of our state as our Governor is a man who runs an open-door policy administration.
