International Labour Day. This is a day the authority must carefully look into especially the Ministry of Labour and the Sierra Leone Labour Congress instead of calling for public holiday for labour workers. Workers are faced with so many challenges that need urgent concern. When i was reporting for the Future Newspaper i did some findings about the way workers are employed and their condition of service. It really heartrending and appalling for some workers especially workers who are working for Libanese and the Indians, some of them have work for over one year and six months but they have not yet received a permanent contract which is against the Labour Laws of Sierra Leone. Nearly all of them were are afraid to disclosed their identity or neither report to the authority because they were afraid for them not to be dismissed from their job. It high time the Ministry of Labour and Sierra Leone Labour Congress quickly looking into the concerns of Sierra Leonean workers, all do some workers are getting better services but they should look into the concern by the other deprived workers, they deserved better. Happy International Labour Day to all workers especially the Grave Diggers, the messenger, the cleaners and the teachers.
