International Singing Competition in Minsk The 1st Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition will be held at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus for the first time from 10 to 17 December 2014. It is the first singing competition in the history of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus founded and organized by the theatre. The 1st Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition will have three rounds: the first two rounds will take place with piano accompaniment, and the third round will take place with orchestral accompaniment on the main stage of the theatre. The finale concert will be given on 17 December 2014; all the winners of the competition will sing at the concert. The finale of the 1st Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition will form part of the programme of the fifth jubilee Christmas Opera Forum, one of the greatest cultural projects of the theatre that is a traditional highpoint of the theatrical season. Famous opera companies of Russia, Latvia, Bulgaria, outstanding opera soloists, conductors, directors and managers of opera theatres of the neighbouring countries and beyond, Russian and international impresarios were forum participants in different years. The names of the members of the expert international jury comprising eminent figures in the field of opera, managers of major opera houses and festivals, will rightly be added to the list of the celebrated guests in the new 82nd season. The grand prize winner will receive € 10,000, the winner of first prize will be awarded € 7,000 in prize money, the winner of second prize will collect € 5,000 in prize money, and € 3,000 will be given to the winner of third prize. The jury’s incentive prize will amount to the equivalent of € 1,000. The competition is open to singers of all countries who are students or graduates of vocational or music higher educational institutions.
