Internship opportunity ABOUT THE FOUNDATION The Sino-Africa Center of Excellence Foundation (SACEF) is a leading China-Africa focused initiative founded in 2012. SACEF aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experiences between China and Africa. Our objective is to increase cooperation between China and Africa in business development, trade and investments and entrepreneurship. As China’s interaction with Africa increases, there is need for greater understanding of the nature and benefits of increased cooperation between the two regions. The Foundation focuses on business exchanges and knowledge transfer on four levels: i. Student- Student interactions – seminars and discussion forums ii. Students-Corporate exchanges – China-Africa Internship Program (CAIP) iii. Corporate-Corporate exchange- business forums and research iv. Government-Government exchange – local economic development partnership and research ABOUT THE INTERNSHIPS The China Africa Internship Program (CAIP) is a flagship project of the Sino-Africa Center of Excellence Foundation (SACEF). The program provides strategic short-term work placements for both Chinese and African graduates studying in the top 20 universities and institutions of higher learning in China. The programme intends to promote an internship “buddy” system between Chinese and African graduates. Graduates will be placed in fast growing medium-sized companies with existing China business focus, or companies that are market leaders in respective sectors. The pilot program will be launched in Kenya and South Africa. The first 20 interns will be hosted by leading African companies and organizations based in Nairobi and Johannesburg. Companies will employ students for duration of 10 weeks during the summer holiday between July and September, where the students will participate in a structured paid internship program. Students will also sit through a series of seminars where they will interact with entrepreneurs and business leaders from Africa. Benefits to Students The programme provides students with an opportunity to gain better understanding of African business and consequently contribute to the development of China-Africa strategy for frontier businesses in the Africa region. The program enables students to gain entrepreneurial and business management skills while building relevant professional networks in business. Further, CAIP provides a China-gateway for African products and services through the best minds in China, budding Sinologists and China’s future leaders. The program trains, equips and prepares students focusing on a number of sectors including: Agriculture, Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, ICT, International Business Administration, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Medicine, Automotive. Compensation and Benefits The internships are unpaid , but offer a living stipend USD 1,000 to cover living costs over the full period of the internship Additional benefits (e.g flights) negotiable for selected positions.
