Interstate 35 Medford exit re-opens with new roundabouts Motorists traveling to the Medford Outlet Center and businesses on the west side of Interstate 35 north of Owatonna are able to use Exit 48 again after it re-opened on Tuesday, July 15, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Exit 48 had been closed for nearly six weeks as part of an $833,000 project that replaced two roundabouts and made improvements to the traffic ramps. However, motorists traveling to the city of Medford on the east side of I-35 will still need to detour at exit 45 at Clinton Falls. To reach the city of Medford and its businesses, motorists should take Steele County Road 9 east to Steele County Road 45 north. Steele County has closed the west access to Medford from exit 48 as the county replaces a bridge over the Straight River on Steele County Road 12 (Central Avenue West). MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For real-time traffic and travel information anywhere in Minnesota, visit 511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to mndot.gov.
