Interview tale: Well, I had my interview today, and I listened to your webinar and did the things you said and thought I was prepared... but BOY did I mess it up. I think I did a pretty mediocre job on most of the questions, but heres the one that really threw me: How would you interact with your colleagues, both faculty and graduate students, given our xxx approach to [the discipline]? I know youre probably too busy to respond, but Id really like to hear what you make of this question, if you get a chance. I actually just sat there stumped, and then stuttered a bit, and then took a long drink of water while everyone fidgeted. It might have been a full minute before I said anything. I mean.... interact? Like, would I treat them tenderly because they have a certain theoretical perspective? Client went on: I ended up answering it as if he had said collaborate, but Im not sure that was right. Client was right. Interact means something like engage or collaborate. #doesntmakeitanyeasier
