Interview with Guilty Verdikt Yo! Whats up? This is Lazar! splashurl/qaku3h2 1) How did your band get started? Me and Jay (ex bass player) were looking for more members when Ripper (drummer) contacted me asking if I wanted to play guitar for his cover band. I brought Jay along and the other guitar player flaked out right before the first gig, so after that first show as a 3-piece, we all agreed to change the name to Guilty Verdikt. Its a name Ive had for a while. Originally got it from a news headline I saw while channel flipping. Started off as nothing special, but metaphorically it makes more sense than intended. Everybody is judged whether they like it or not and those who are exceptionally different are commonly victimized. Were all a little abnormal, so the name stuck. 2) What is it like being in your band for a week? Honestly, at this point in time. Nothing different from what anyone else is doing right now. Were currently at a stand-still. Rippers looking for a job, Jays out, Im in the process of teaching our new bass player the songs, and I still havent even met the new guitar player yet. But on the regular, when were all together, its pure chaos! Haha! We have all these insiders that are so obscure, I cant even begin to explain them. To anyone else theyd be thinking Why is that even funny But when youre actually there at the moment a gesture is conceived, youll be laughing uncontrollably. 3) Who in your band is the funniest? Right now me and Ripper are pretty much the only official members, so we go back and fourth a lot. But Jay was the guy you could never have a dull moment around. He doesnt play bass for us anymore, but were all still bros. One time we opened up for the band Calabrese and after their set he just straight up told their drummer Youre music is like a sore penis, IT CANT BE BEAT! 4) Where would you like to tour someday? Anywhere. For the past year weve been playing shows between San Antonio and New Braunfels. Id love to go out of state and Ive always wanted to go to Europe. Especially Finland! HIM, Apocalyptica, Nightwish, and Children of Bodom are all from there, so when the day finally comes, Ill hardly be able to contain it! 5) What would you guys do if Escape the Fate chose your band to tour with them? Id be honored and surprised. Whether youre a fan or not, youd be an idiot to turn something like that down. Ive been a fan since my freshman year of high school. For their short history, they already have a story to tell and theyve been my window to some of my other favorite bands like Aiden. 6) Whats your advice to people being bullied in school? Fight back if you feel the need to. Just dont give into what they say or do to you. And whatever you do, dont take your own life. I had a friend who hung himself and life for everyone he knew has not been the same ever since. Even if youre completely convinced you dont have any friends, you still have a family and thatll impact them more than anybody else. It isnt worth it. I was bullied a lot growing up. If I gave up when I wanted to, I wouldnt have experienced as much as I have today. Take it from me, things always get better.
