Interview with my Dad..... Question: Let’s get back to your own life now. So, you lived many years watching the life of Saudi men & women. What have you learned from that experience? Dad: I want my daughters to be very educated & self-reliant. I want you both to be independent and free from the control of men.Then the men you marry would respect you. Dad: But dad, you did not allow me to be free yourself. You never gave me the freedom of dating a non-Tigrigna speaker. You always said make SURE he is “ours”. And I actually found it interesting dating outside the “ours” ..lol As you remember 2009, you knew what was happening in my life & you were close to committing a suicide. Right, dad? Dad: He laughed… Myself: I responded to your anger with an attitude like: What are talking about? This is my life.I am a big girl. I know what works for me. Focus on your own marriage problems. You felt so disrespected and insulted. You would curse me with phrases like: May God shorten your life ( Edmeki yihitser...lol ). You also threatened to kill mom so that I can regret my actions the rest of my life.Dad, You were crazy and completely out of control. So stubborn about your position. I was also so stubborn & unyielding.We both had the worst experiences. Uniting again as a family is like a miracle. It never seemed possible to be a father and a daughter again. I am so happy & grateful to God!! I love you so much, Dad. Dad: I love you too Alga gualey! Back to my point, what I would love to underline here is you never gave me the freedom I deserve. I TOOK IT..… ..lol Dad:That’s why I gave you a good education. So that you can fight men including your father..lol Question: So here after if I decide to get married, he could be kunama, Adere, Somal, Oromo,Amara,Gurage,Tigrigna speaker, Hamer, Gambela, from another African countries, American, European, Asian. I do not know.Anything is possible and I would just bring him home for you to meet him. Do not expect Shimagles (elder men begging you for your daughter.) What do you think? Dad: I know you would do it (he laughed) Question:Dad, Do you realize now, you were actually wrong. We are all the same.We are actually human beings with cultural differences which LOVE would always easily break through & penetrate?
