Intl community must act on enforced disappearances in Kashmir: Zaffar Srinagar, Aug 30 (KNS): Stating the on the eve of International Day of Disappeared, rallies, protests and programs are being organized to observe the day, Senior Hurriyat Conference (M) leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir salvation Movement, Zaffer Akbar Bhat said that the international community must take bold initiatives for finding the disappeared Kashmiris who were enforced to disappear by Indian military. According to a statement issued to KNS, Zaffer Akbar Bhat who met family members of the disappeared Kashmiris said that international community has moral responsibility to initiate steps for finding the missing Kashmiris and must ensure prosecution of Indian military troops who are responsible for the disappearances of innocent Kashmiris. He said that for diverting the attention of international community towards this humanitarian issue by staging protests, demos and sit-inns but so far as the community has not took any bold initiative. Interacting with the families of enforced disappeared Molvi Nazir Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, Nazir Ahmad Illahie, Tasaduq Ahmad Wani and Syed mohd Shafi Jeelani, Zaffer said the families of disappeared are living lives of uncertainty as after the passage of years now they have failed to get the whereabouts of their loved ones. He said that so far as Indian military forces have disappeared over eight thousand innocent Kashmiris. He said that identification of those buried in unmarked graves can help in knowing the whereabouts of the disappeared Kashmiri as common notion is that the Indian military forces have killed thousands of Kashmiri in interrogation centers after arresting them. Zaffer condemned the atrocities of Indian armed forces and said that world community must boldly help Kashmiris in revealing the whereabouts of the disappeared which would be best way of expressing solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri nation.
