Into history, some 20 years after the introduction of Saturday suburban trains to Waitakere, Saturday 6th December 2014 is the final day of Saturday operations to Waitakere station. Here we see DC 4260 standing at Waitakere station at 5pm, Saturday 6th December 2014. From Monday, Waitakere will decrease to a weekday only rail service. The Saturday trains will be replaced by a bus, which will add some 15 minutes to the journey, and for which the times have been ommitted from the new public rail timetable because Auckland Transport decided it was a brilliant idea to not show the bus departure and arrival times. This is the first phase of the New Network for West Auckland, being rolled out between 8th December 2014 and July 2016. Public submissions for the New Network close on Friday 12th December 2014.
