Into the Woods https://youtube/watch?v=2Byk9Is3TjY For the first three quarters of the movie I felt this was the best film Id seen in a year. The music and dialogue were entertaining while the story cleverly entwined a few fairy tales. Me? Enjoying a MUSICAL to the point of thinking it was the best film of the year!!!!? (Im not a big fan of musicals.) it had to be really good. Then, for some reason, the writers and director strayed from the established story lines and created an ending away from the time chiseled happily ever after. The pace of the movie slowed and the feeling sank. While it did have a happy ending it was not the made to order happily ever after I would have preferred. We could explain it away by saying in real life our happy is what we make it and its a good lesson for us but these are fairy tales created to take us away from real life. The wonderful performances by the cast including Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt easily compensate for the more realistic happy ending making Into the Woods worth seeing.
