Introducing Alex! My Great Uncle, Gordon Alexander Salier, (my Grandfathers elder brother) enlisted in August 1914 and returned to Australia in October 1918 having servied with the Light horseman (3rd L.H. Regiment). Gordon managed to survive the war, once back in Australia, was kicked over the heart by a bull and passed away in 1919. Gordon, wrote to my Grandfather Willis during the war and asked him to propose to his beloved Doris on his behalf, which he did. He was awarded the 15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal
