Introducing Winemaker Wednesdays – news, facts and a peak inside into the world of winemaking from our very own winemaker George Chelf. Tidbits of information perfect for impressing your friends over your next glass of Newport Vineyards wine! Today we are blending the Bordeaux wines – Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – moving the wine from the oak barrels into the stainless tanks where we will check the PH and TA balances. The grapes behind these wines are from 2013 – did you know the vintage refers to the year the grapes were picked not the year the wine was bottled? Stay tuned for next week – bottling!
