Introduction: in 2005 I answered an ad in the paper. It read Need Help, Must Love Dogs . I have always loved animals and figured it would be a dog sitter or walker job. I had no idea it would be greyhound racing. I didnt even really know we had greyhound racing. I was scheduled to come in the following morning for a walk through. That started with a brief description of the kennel and walking through the door while being lectured on always checking latches on the gates and locking all the doors. When we walked through the door, the excited barking and wagging tails was all you heard and saw. The kennel owner told me to lock the door, as i did he started turnout. I was surrounded and knocked against the wall by all the dogs. I was in heaven. I xan still see that day, like it was yesterday. Never did I ever feel such happiness and love as i did from those dogs. After all the dogs were ushered outside and i took a second to breathe. The kennel owner uniformed me that I had passed the biggest test. The dogs liked me. Had they not acted the way they did with me, I would have been shown the door. That was the start of my love for the greyhound breed. It has only grown from that day. I now attend political functions and meet with senators and representatives on a regular basis to discuss legislation. I founded The Pro Greyhound Movement in order to unite all lovers of the breed and to educate people about our dogs and the lives they live.
