Introduction of Dubai Tourism Dirham As you may know, from 31st March 2014 the Dubai Government will impose a compulsory tourism fee (Tourism Dirham or TD Fee) on guests staying in hotels, hotel apartments, guesthouses and holiday homes in the destination. Ranging from AED 7 to AED 20, the Tourism Dirham fee will be charged as a separate item on a per bedroom, per stay basis. The Tourism Dirham is to be paid by GUESTS directly to the hotel at the time of check out. The Tourism Dirham applies to guests booked to arrive on or after 31st March 2014. Bookings made prior to this date with arrivals from 31st March 2014 will not be exempt. Tourism Dirham will be charged as follows: • AED 20 per room per night for stays in 5 star hotels • AED 15 per room per night for stays in 4 star hotels • AED 10 per room per night for stays in 3 and 2 star hotels • AED 7 per room per night for stays in 1 star hotel The funds raised will help Dubai’s government support Expo 2020 projects and the international promotion of the Emirate.
