Introduction to Health - Barts Health Open Day 20 August 2014 | 10.00am – 2.00pm | Venue TBC This course is designed to raise awareness and gain skills specifically for the Nursing Assistant position and Admin and Clerical position as required by the Barts Health NHS Trust. Course content: • An understanding of Job roles within the Barts Health NHS Trust • Quality (including care values) • Equality and Diversity • Communication within Health Service • Basic Medical Terminology • Effective Team working • Health and Safety and security in Barts Health NHS • Application form filling for Barts Health NHS Trust • Supporting statement writing • Interview skills • Presentation and confidence building • Mental Health Awareness • Hemo Dynamic Monitoring This training will lead to apply for Nursing Assistant jobs within Barts Health NHS Trust For Admin and clerical roles - 6 weeks work placement followed by temp position and applying for permanent position within the Trust Eligibility Criteria: • Living in Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forest, Camden or Islington For Health care Assistant • Minimum NVQ2 or above in health and social care or other relevant qualification • or 1-2 years’ experience in working in health or social care sector For Admin and clerical: • Minimum GCSEs qualification or above • Minimum of 6 months experiences in administrative/clerical field • Good IT skills • Good Literacy skills Interested candidate required to attend Functional skills assessment followed by one to one interview (Date to be confirmed) Will be assess on the following areas:~ Literacy: • Spelling • Grammar- Past, present and future tense • Listening skills • Best word to help constructing complex sentences • Punctuation- comma, semicolon etc • Proof Reading: finding ‘main point’ & ‘specific Details’ ( this required reading and eye for details skills) • Grammar: Verb, adjective, noun Numeracy: • Recognising Fraction from Metric measurement • Metric measurement • Graph • Calculating in units of time • Ratio • Metric measurements from millimetres to meters etc • Finding Means or Average • Adding and subtracting decimals • Reading scale and nearest ‘Whole Kg’ • Percentage • Finding percentage and reduction (you might often see at the shop 10% 20% reduction or sale) Please send your confirmation of attendance by 14 August 2014 to [email protected]
