Invest More into Agriculture CASD President Tells Government By Leviticus P. Whamah/ [email protected] / 0886403363 The outgoing president of the College of Agriculture and Sustainable Development (CASD) has called on the Liberian Government to invest more funding into agriculture. Mr. James K. Mulbah, who is a member of the Ku-ten class of 2012/2013, said if more investment is done in the agriculture sector of the country, Liberia will be self-sufficient in food production. He mentioned that the Ministry of Agriculture needs to do more in order to enhance the work of local farmers in the rural parts of Liberia. Mr. Mulbah noted that if that is done, the importation of rice in the country will be reduced. He said that Liberia is faced with food security due to what he called rising population, urban migration, poverty, ignorance and disease. He explained that it is quite possible to invest in Liberia agriculture sector due to the new Agriculture Policy for Liberia. Mr. Mulbah further called on national government to absorb young graduates completing university studies for further studies abroad in the area of agriculture which, according to him, will enhance their abilities for higher education in Liberia.
