Investigations into Nato/Isaf reverse cargo scam have been stalemated as the US appears dilatory to provide description of its military equipment allegedly stolen from these consignments; it was learnt here on Thursday. According to sources, customs department had sent a letter to the US authorities in mid-December to get details related to its military equipment allegedly stolen from Nato/Isaf reverse cargos in Karachi as the department was so far clueless to ascertain what kind of equipment either lethal or otherwise were placed and off-loaded from these containers. They said that investigations are in an idle mode as the relevant US authorities had so far not responded to the Pakistan customs after a lapse of over a month. Sources claimed that after the lapse of almost two months, customs department was still unable to recover sophisticated equipment allegedly stolen from these two Nato/ISAF containers. The possibilities of arms and ammunition in reverse cargos could not be ruled out, sources said. Replying to a question, sources said: Although, the Pakistani government has restricted the US and Nato/Isaf forces not to transport lethal military equipment through the Pakistani soil, customs department has no idea either they had followed these instructions in this case. They opined: The US authority might have violated the said instructions and transported lethal military equipment in retrograde consignments; hence they were showing a sluggish attitude in providing description of its military equipment stolen from these consignments to the Pakistan customs. On the other hand, official sources dispelled the impression that investigations into this matter had been halted, saying: We have not only lodged an FIR against the accused persons but also submitted a challan in a court and now the case is sub judice.
